Q: What courses may be used for CPM renewal?

A: All courses on HiveCE may be used for CPM renewal through NARM.

Any course that is approved by MEAC, ACNM, or provider approved by the California Board of Nursing meets NARMs criteria for Category 1 CE. (Most of our courses.)

Any course that does not have one of the above approvals, and only provides a HiveCE Certificate, may be used for Category 2 CE. (A few of our courses.)

Q: What courses may CNMs use to renew their licenses?

A: In addition to our ACNM approved CE courses, most states will accept our courses that are provider approved by the California Board of Nursing.

Q: What courses may be used for recertification through IBCLE?

A: Many of our courses are certified by IBCLE to provide CERPs for lactation consultants.

Q: What courses may be used for NARM's Midwifery Bridge Certificate?

A: Most (but not all!) of our courses are approved by NARM to be accepted for their Midwifery Bridge Certificate.

Q: What courses may be used for as CE for nurses?

A: All courses that are provider approved by the California Board of Nursing. (Most of our courses.)

Q: If I pay for a course now, when can I access it?

A: Unless otherwise specified in the course description, the course will be available right away. For Hands-On Suturing, the on-demand portion will be available right away.

Q: If I pay for an on-demand course now, when must I complete it by?

A: Unless otherwise stated, you will have until at least one year from enrollment to complete the on-demand course, and often longer (we just don't promise longer than one year).

However, if you are taking the course for a specific CE credit, some credits may have expiration dates that are sooner.

Example: The coursepage for Care for the Lactating Body says...

"Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 17686, for 3 contact hours. (This is widely accepted nationwide as continuing education for nurses and midwives.)

IBLCE has allocated 3 L-CERPs for this course. IBLCE verification number C2022019, through February 18th, 2023."

If you are taking this course to use as midwifery or nursing CE, then you will have at least a year from the date of enrollment to complete the course (and potentially longer, we just don't guarantee it). You can learn more about HiveCE's CE Provider Approval by the CA Board of Registered Nursing here.

If you are taking this course in order to earn L-CERPs, then you will have until at least February 18th, 2023 to complete the course for L-CERPs.

For most of our courses, those approvals will be renewed, and you will have even longer. Of course, we can never guarantee that until the renewal comes through. You are always welcome to email [email protected] to inquire about CE renewal status.

Q: When do I have to complete Billing for Midwives by?

A: If you chose the 30-day or 1-year access on Billing for Midwives, you'll need to complete it by the time your access ends. If you choose Extended Access, you'll need to complete it by the time the MEAC approval expires on May 31, 2022.

Q: If a course is certified for CE through a certain date, does it mean that I need to renew my license/credentials by that date?

A: No, it means that you need to complete the course, and pass the post-test to generate your CE certificate by that date. The date you pass the post-test will be the date on your certificate. That date needs to be within the period specified by your credentialing body - usually a one or two year range prior to the date of re-certification.

Q: I just finished a course, and received my CE Certificate...but it is dated for tomorrow. How can this be fixed?

A: Because participants can join from all over the world, the time stamp in HiveCE is for Universal Time (UTC), which means that in the U.S. the date will change in the evening, instead of at midnight. Most of the time, this doesn't matter. If you are in a situation where this does matter, please email [email protected], and we will provide you with a custom CE Certificate for the date that you completed the course, based on your time zone.

Q: How long will I have access to the course?

A: Most learners integrate new information best by having access to it for reference. Our courses are designed to be reference materials for you to use long after you "finish" and have a CE Certificate!

Unless otherwise specified (as it is on Billing for Midwives), you will have access to the course materials until "further notice," which will always be after the last date of any CE Certifications. For most courses, you will have access for months and even years after that date.

Q: I can't remember my password. How do I reset it?

A: You may use the "forgot password" option at login, or under My Account>Password. Be warned that sometimes it can take 5-10 mins for the reset email to come through.

Q: How do I change my credit card information?

A: Go to My Account>Billing.

Q: Ugh...I'm enrolled in Extended Access for Billing for Midwives, and my card info changed, so now my subscription has expired. How can I get it started again? Do I need to pay the initial enrollment all over again?

A: Start by updating your new card info in My Account>Billing. Then send an email to [email protected] requesting a restart of your subscription. If it has been less than 90 days since your subscription expired, we can start it again.

If it has been more than 90 days, we will evaluate on a case-by-case basis, and you may need to pay a restart fee.

Q: I'm enrolled in the Extended Access option on Billing for Midwives, and I am now ready to cancel my subscription. How do I do that?

A: You may cancel your subscription at any time at My Account>Billing. Be sure to pass your post-test and print your CE certificate before you cancel!

Q: I've heard that my midwifery association has an organizational membership. How do I get my discount?

A: Because your midwifery association knows who their members are (and we do not), please contact them directly for your discount code. If you aren't sure who to contact there, please email [email protected] so we can connect you with the right person. (Curious about organizational membership benefits? Learn more.)

Q: How can I purchase a gift certificate?

A: Gift certificates can be purchased in any amount. Full details and purchase option here.

Q: I remember finishing an on-demand course and passing the post-test, where can I find my CE Certificate?

A: Well, there are a few options...

1. Our new CE Certificate system saves your certificates online for you to access later. Check here for your certificate:

2. For Hands-On Suturing, your CE Certificate was emailed to you. If you can't find it, email [email protected].

3. If the CE Certificate is for an on-demand course you took awhile ago, it may have been under our old system. Under that system, the CE Certificate generated when you passed the post-test, and needed to be printed or saved to PDF at that time, as you can't access it online later. (The instructions say that, but some people miss that.)

Although you cannot access it later, we can! Please email [email protected] with the following information:
  • Course title
  • Approximate time period that you passed the post-test (Example: "June 2020" or "spring or maybe summer of 2019")
  • Type of certification, if more than one was available (ACNM, MEAC, CERPs, etc)

If there is a record of you completing the course and passing the post-test, a replacement CE certificate will be emailed to you.

Q: I'm in the course, and want to view a different lesson, but the video player won't let me. How can I fix that?

A: Most bad behavior from the video player can be fixed by refreshing your browser. If the issue persists, please try a different browser (Chrome, Firefix, Safari, etc).
