Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

1. Define the main types of anemia affecting pregnant people and distinguish the difference using lab results.

2. Understand the impacts of anemia on the pregnant person, the fetus and the infant.

3. Determine which tests to use in the diagnosis and monitoring of anemia in pregnancy and postpartum

4. Describe when and how to intervene once anemia is diagnosed to improve the outcomes for pregnant people and their offspring.


HiveCE is an approved provider of continuing education by the California Board of Nursing, and this course is provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 17686, for 2 contact hours, through November 30th, 2025. (This is widely accepted nationwide as continuing education for nurses and midwives. This course is accepted by NARM as Category 1 CE for CPM renewal.)

Approved for the NARM Midwifery Bridge Certificate, Category 1.

Previously approved by MEAC for 2 hours of continuing education under approval number M1718-85-0426DE through May 21, 2020, and approval number M1920-102-0502DE through May 31, 2022.

Julia Bailey CPM, LDM, IBCLC

Instructor:

Julia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Knox College in 2007. She began to pursue midwifery in 2010, after the birth of her first child. She received her CPM and Oregon Direct Entry Midwifery license in 2013. She earned her IBCLC in 2017 and has a home birth and lactation practice in the Willamette Valley. She has served as the Oregon Midwifery Council's MidValley Regional Representative since 2013, and has also been the CEU and Legend Drugs and Devices coordinator since 2014. She began teaching both initial and renewal courses for Legend Drugs and Devices in 2017. She lives in Sweet Home with her husband and three children.
