"What CE do I need for my CPM renewal?"

"Is it the same for my state?"

"Will this course count for my state's specific requirement for this topic?"

"What does the CE expiration date mean?"

These are the questions received the most, and here are all the answers in one handy dandy location.

Q: What courses may be used for CPM renewal?

A: All CE courses on HiveCE may be used for CPM renewal through NARM.

Any course that is approved by MEAC, ACNM, AAFP, or provider approved by the California Board of Nursing meets NARMs criteria for Category 1 CE. (Most of our courses.)

Any course that does not have one of the above approvals, and only provides a HiveCE Certificate, may be used for Category 2 CE. (A few of our courses.)

Parent and doula education courses do not provide CE.

Q: What courses may be used for NARM's Midwifery Bridge Certificate?

A: Most (but not all!) of our courses are approved by NARM to be accepted for their Midwifery Bridge Certificate.

Q: What courses may be used for renewal of my state midwifery license?

A: We have yet to find a state that doesn't accept CE that NARM will.

In other words - if you can use it for your NARM CPM renewal, you can use it for your state renewal!

Of course, states have different requirements regarding the number of CE hours, different renewal cycles, and some states have specific requirements in certain topic areas (see below).

Q: If a course is certified for CE through a certain date, does it mean that I need to renew my license/credentials by that date?

A: No, it means that you need to complete the course, and pass the post-test to generate your CE certificate by that date. The date you pass the post-test will be the date on your certificate. That date needs to be within the period specified by your credentialing body - usually a one or two year range prior to the date of re-certification.
