FAQ
-
How much does the course cost?
Through a small group cohort, the course is $345 per participant. This includes the on-demand portion, 4 hours of live instruction, and the loan of a supply kit (we pay shipping/return shipping within the U.S., including Puerto Rico). Additional fees apply if you need to attend the make-up session, choose to purchase a Keeper Kit, need a skills test session outside the times provided, etc.
-
Is there a scholarship for Midwives of Color?
Yes, there is a $60 discount for Midwives of Color. If you qualify, please email [email protected] for details prior to enrollment. We cannot apply this retroactively.
-
Where is this located?
This course is a hybrid of online on-demand content, and live participation using the practice supplies that we send to you. The live portion of the course is via Zoom, so this course is 100% distance learning, even though it is "hands-on."
-
What happens during the live small group session?
The live small group session is a virtual meeting with a small group of midwives (6 participants) to troubleshoot areas that need additional learning, and to practice suturing with direct feedback from Holly.
-
Are the supplies included?
A Loaner Kit is included with the cost of those course, and will arrive about one week prior to the live Zoom session, and return postage is also included. Those who wish to upgrade to a Keeper Kit may do so for an additional fee. Keeper Kits are sent at the time they are ordered, and as the name implies do no need to be returned.
-
Can I switch to another session?
You may switch to another session if it is at least 30 days until your currently scheduled cohort, and if there is space available in the cohort you wish to switch to. There is no fee to switch if the above criteria are met. (If the above criteria are not met, you may not switch, and will need to re-enroll at the full price.)
-
What is required to obtain the CE credit?
In order to obtain the CE credit, you must: complete the on-demand portion, past the written test, attend and participate in the small group practice session, pass your skills test, complete the course evaluation, and return your kit. (10 hours of CE for midwives and nurses for whom this skill is within scope)
-
What if I want to take the online portion only, and don't want to attend the live sessions?
If you'd like to only take the on-demand portion, check out the Instant Access option: https://www.hivece.com/courses/hands-on-suturing-instant-access
-
Uh...why do I have to pass TESTS for CE?
This course was designed not only for continuing education, but also to meet the criteria of a "hands-on" course for NARM's Midwifery Bridge Certificate, and to meet specific educational requirements for some states. (Plus, we assume those that choose to take this course want to be able to suture correctly when finished!)
-
When will Hands-On Suturing I be offered in 2025?
Public small group cohorts will be offered most months of the year in 2025. Historically, these fill quickly once enrollment opens. We encourage those interested in this course to sign up on the interest list below, so you will receive an email when enrollment opens for each session.
-
Are private sessions available?
Yes, you may take the course for $499 if you wish to have a live session that is for you and only you. Or, you can find one friend/colleague who would like to have a live session just for the two of you, for $425/each. Please email [email protected] to arrange for these options.
