A fee schedule isn't just good business practice — it's a legal requirement for all licensed providers.
Under Part 2 of the No Surprises Act, all licensed healthcare providers are required to provide Good Faith Estimates to uninsured and self-pay clients, and those estimates must include CPT codes. That requirement applies whether or not you bill insurance.
Another huge change is that CPT 59400 — the global maternity care code used by most out-of-hospital birth practices — is scheduled for deletion in 2027, so now is the perfect time to build a fee structure that will carry you through that transition.
This course provides step-by-step guidance using "magic calculator" tools built specifically for this course (access included), that will guide you to a fee schedule based on your specific practice variables.
Still not sure if this course is for you? You can watch the entire first lesson in the above video.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain why all licensed providers, including those who do not bill insurance, need a fee schedule by CPT code.
- Properly access and apply their Medicare locality rate as a benchmark for setting perinatal service fees.
- Use publicly available tools to assess the local market range for CPT codes.
- Evaluate their fee schedule for internal consistency, including the relationship between global package fees and individual services.
- Evaluate their fee schedule for long term solvency, including the ability to serve Medicaid clients and/or provide discounts.
If you've been overwhelmed by this process in the past, this course is for you!
